The TCSD  is a combined city/county law enforcement agency. It provides service to Toole County as well as the incorporated cities of Shelby, Kevin and Sunburst. It is administered by the elected County Sheriff (Donna Matoon), and is overseen by the Toole County Public Safety Commission. The Commission has five members with two being appointed by the Toole County Commissioners and two being appointed by the Shelby City Council. The fifth Commissioner is agreed upon by both parties.

TCSO Current Structure

Sheriff - Donna Matoon, a 25 year veteran in her 2nd term as sheriff, is in overall command of the department.

Undersheriff - Mike Lamey, a 16 year veteran, oversees the department’s investigations, dispatch center, and civil department.

Chief Deputy -Kevin Gates, a 18 year veteran, is in charge of the patrol division and jail administration.

Patrol Staff/Deputy Sheriffs

The Patrol division of 8 deputies conduct the day to day patrol, investigations and  law enforcement in Toole County.

Investigation

Deputy Jeff Jergens, a 7 year Veteran of the TCSO, is currently assigned to the Blackfeet Safe Trails Task Force. Jergens investigates state, local and federal crimes occurring both in and around Toole County. The BSTTF is a cooperative effort between Toole, Glacier, and Pondera Counties and the FBI.
