Boyd was born in Havre and graduated from Shelby High School in 1980. Following high school graduation, he attended Montana State University in Bozeman. In 1985, Boyd graduated from MSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. From 1985 to 1991, he was employed by Jackson’s IGA; Boyd also worked for Shelby Distributors from May of 1991 to December of 2002.
The Treasurer, Assessor and Superintendent of Schools is an elected position with a four year term. In December of 2002, Boyd was appointed to the position of Toole County Treasurer, Assessor and Superintendent of Schools. Boyd was elected in November of 2004 and re-elected in November of 2006.
