The County Clerk & Recorder's Office preserves the records of the County. The Records Department is responsible for the recording, and indexing of deeds, mortgages, surveys, mining work, resolutions, military discharges and various other documents. The Department also files birth and death records, federal tax liens, notices of action and realty transfer certificates.
The County Clerk & Recorder provides accurate and timely financial support services to public officials, departments and the public in order to ensure efficient and effective use of county resources. The office reviews and processes claims, assists in budget preparation and budget management. The Clerk & Recorders office maintains salary, payroll and human resource information to ensure the county employees are paid accurately according to established procedures and law.
The County Elections Department is responsible for the administration of Federal, State, County, City and special district elections in the County according to Federal and State elections laws. The Election Administrator plans, organizes, coordinates and manages all facets of the voter registration process in accordance with Montana Election Codes, and other applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations including administrative direction from the Montana Secretary of State.

Online Document Search
Access documents and records online. Computer indexing began in 1991 with limited images. Images appear on documents starting 2004. Toole County is continually updating images on older documents. Historical images are available on ArcaSearch in the Clerk & Recorders office from 1914 to May 2012.
